Via app requires permissions in order to understand your mobile usage behavior. If the required permissions are missing you will see the following errors shown in your Test Connection results:
- App data is missing
- App data is # days old
App data is used to provide you insights about your own app usage behavior, top apps you spend time on, apps you don't use along with rewards. Here's how you can fix these messages:
GRANT APP USAGE PERMISSION
Option 1: Provide permission via device Settings
These steps apply for users who want to adjust the settings on the Android device directly
- Go to Settings icon on your Android device
- Select the Security menu
- Scroll to the bottom and select the Apps with usage access option
- Find the Via app on the list. It'll currently show the permission status as Off
- Select the Via app option
- Turn the permission ON on the top right Permit usage access option
That's it! Your app usage permission should now be turned on. To confirm it's connected correctly:
- Open the Via app on your Android phone
- Select the top left menu icon > Test Connection > select the CLICK HERE TO TEST button
- The "App data is missing" or "App data is # days old" message should no longer be shown
Option 2: Using the Test Connection menu on the Via app
These steps apply for users who want to use the Via app to fix the settings.
- Open the Via app on your Android phone
- Select the top left menu icon > Test Connection > select the CLICK HERE TO TEST button
- Once the test is complete, it'll show a step "App data is missing" or "App data is # days old message". Select the FIX button
- The next screen provides you information on the Apps with usage access menu where you'll need to grant permission for the Via app to fix the app data issue. Select the OK button at the bottom to get started
